The Working from Home Mum Juggle – Multi-tasking to the next level!

 ...READ ON

I’m in the office at my 3yr old’s kinder. I’m sitting on the “special chair”. Thomas’s kinder teacher brought in from home, a five-star camping chair which he now knows as my special work chair. I wasn’t able to leave again this morning but I was able retreat to my “special chair” to do my work. Not any chair, only my “special chair”. Last class I sat on the special chair, with my laptop on my knee in the foyer....READ ON

Working Mum – Anna Davies

It’s a gorgeous spring afternoon and I am at my long-time friend Anna Davies recently renovated, beautiful home in inner Melbourne. Anna and I have been the closest of friends for about thirteen years. We met through ex boyfriends and have shared so many wonderful times together over the years. Anna would have to be one of the most social people I know, pre motherhood and today. A fabulous cook, she has always loved to entertain. How she manages to keep up her social calendar, work four days a week and be the fabulous wife and mother that she is to husband and their two beautiful children never ceases to amaze me. Here is Anna’s journey…....READ ON

One of the biggest concerns I hear from the many fabulous and intelligent women that I meet is: “What do I do about the career break in my resume?” For some, this might only be 6 – 12 months. For others, this could be 10+ years. My answer to them is always the same....READ ON

Working Mum – Belinda Bullas

Today I met with my beautiful friend from mother’s group, Belinda Bullas. It is one of Belinda’s non work days and she has her two children at home with her. It’s a wet Melbourne spring day and Charlie is desperate to go outside. Gorgeous little Evie, is exhausted and is due for a sleep but you would never know. She happily sits and plays with her toys on the play mat before Belinda puts her down for a nap. Belinda and I sit at her kitchen table and exchange our latest motherhood stories. Toilet training (or lack thereof from my end), her son’s recent operation to have grommets put in and his speech progression. Multi-tasking, Belinda sets herself up on the floor and builds Lego towers with Charlie whilst she shares with me her return to work journey. But…. about three quarters of the way through my questions, I started experiencing some very familiar waves of intense back pain! Not wanting to jump to conclusions, I didn’t alarm Belinda and we kept on chatting. The pain became more frequent and painful. I was contracting! Knowing how quickly I came with my first, I didn’t want to take any chances. I left Belinda’s extremely quickly and very excited that it looked promising that things were starting to progress! But… for now, it looks like everything has slowed down again. I therefore have been able to work away this afternoon on Belinda’s story…....READ ON

Working Mum – Sarah Drew

Today I met with my lovely friend from Mother’s Group, Sarah Drew. Sarah has a heart of gold and is always the one to organise our regular group catch ups....READ ON

Sarah lives with her parent’s and her little boy, Stanley. Sarah decided to return to the family home so she could fulfil her dream of becoming a mother. Today is her day off from work. She and Stanley had spent the morning at a local play centre and he is now exhausted. As we sit at her parent’s kitchen table we can hear Stanley, crying for his mummy from his bedroom as his Granny tries to settle him for his day time sleep. Sarah puts the kettle on, explains that this is all part of his procrastination to fight sleep. Something I know too well! We quickly become engrossed in conversation about the challenges of having a non sleeper still at two and half and motherhood…...READ ON
